HowTo: Hide user accounts from Windows 7 (or XP) welcome screen.<\/p>\n

This is useful\u00a0when you created additional user accounts to share folders on a home network.\u00a0 The users existing on the client computers need to exist on the server computer but you don’t want them to be able to login locally.<\/p>\n

Go to the following registry key:<\/p>\n

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\WindowsNT\\CurrentVersion\\Winlogon\\SpecialAccounts\\UserList<\/strong><\/code><\/p>\n

In XP, the key exists, in Vista or 7 you must create keys “SpecialAccounts” and “UserList”.<\/p>\n

Next you need to create a new DWORD value under that key.
\nName: usernameToHide
\nValue: 0\u00a0 (0 to hide,\u00a01 to show)<\/em><\/p>\n

CAUTION! If you disable all administrator accounts, UAC won’t work anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n
